Gradual Release

There are a few titles listed on the TIFF site now so if you are any thing like me you will be drawn to this movie if only because of the title…

Just a small drip of methadone for those among us who are waiting to make the deep dive into the selection process, a lil’ bit of Contemporary World Cinema, Masters, Visions and one Vanguard.

A new and interesting addition to the web version of the movie listings this year is more than one image per film. I always wondered about the painstaking process of selecting just one picture to represent what may have been weeks, months or even years of effort. Tony Kaye spent 13 years (or something crazy like that) filming Lake of Fire and of the 6 images on IMDB the program book just has the one from the protest, and not even any of the really graphic *spoiler alert* images from the procedures that bookend the film. When I do my last minute picks I almost always let that single image from the program book be my visual coin toss* – but now with multiple images on the site I may have to add yet another step to the selection-and-reselection process.

Something tells me I will be exceeding my bandwidth limit for my mobile device this August.

*unless one of the movies is from Australia – Australia is to film fest picking as C is to multiple choice exams. Always go with Australia unless the other movie was programmed by Jane Schoettle. If it was from Australia AND programmed by Jane Schoettle I don’t know why you would even be wasting your time looking at another movie.

No affiliation whatsoever

This is not an official TIFF site. If it was I would not have to wait in so many lineups with my festival knapsack full of water, snacks, sunscreen and other supplies.
